So it’s no secret that ya girl loves some high end shit. My wallet on the other hand knows me best and pulls me back down to reality real quick. When I first bought my home (almost a year ago!) I had inspiration pictures saved on Pinterest and Instagram but I noticed everything was adding up quickly. Some items I splurged on, others I couldn’t justify. Actually I could justify anything, but now I that I have a mortgage thats a whole other story.
Something I couldn’t sacrifice was the look. I still wanted that high end look with my low end budget and if there something I can do, is find that look or something exactly alike it for A LOT less. I consider it a gift.
My trick is google, it’s literally my best friend. You're probably thinking, bitch was revolutionary about google. Well, I've found so much success in just searching what I want versus looking on one website or maybe the ones I know, I've found so many great sites thanks to me googling things. I’ve learned the best way to find what your looking for is to switch up your words with every search, it change your items that are suggested immensely.
For example, if I wanted to purchase tan leather bar stools, I would never put leather because that price point will be high, so I’ll put in fake or faux. Maybe the shade of tan isn’t coming up so I’ll change it to camel, cognac, brow, taupe, etc. That can change a search really quick. I could even put metal, wood, steel, matte, shiny, whatever you need the more descriptive the better!
One of my favorite searches was for my actual bar stools I got, I was originally looking at the Slope Leather Bar + Counter Stools from west elm. They are amazing but cost an arm and a leg for one. Luckily, I follow every influencers in the world and one of them, Jess (@jessthrowiton_) found some dupes that were exactly the same for half the price, probably less on wayfair! I screen shotted them for the right time to buy. Of course they sold out when I was ready to purchase, so I went to trusty google and did my search. Ironically they’re we’re more on wayfair that I ended up loving! I found my way back to wayfarer through google and got the Lafayette Bar Stool which were on sale for 50% off for two versus just the one stool with west elm.
I finally got the bar stools of my Pinterest dreams and it was for a fraction of the price after just doing a little digging, so worth it! If you guys want more posts regarding my own finds leave a comment and let me know!
