Once upon a time I was brunette, and I don't think I'll ever go back. My hair journey has been a long time coming and still going but man do I love me a ashy blonde moment! I've always loved blonde hair, ombre, balayage, highlights, full dye job, etc. About 3 years ago in 2016, I decided to pull the trigger and do the damn thing. I looked on yelp and found a local salon that had a pretty cute vibe to it and went in with a photo and the rest is history. Now, going blonde takes some time and dedication. I got really lucky and found an amazing stylist (shoutout Valerie @colorme.valerieslade) that understood my hair which is very fine in all aspects and took the time to explain to me how this process was going to work before she touched my hair at all. Trusting your stylist and making sure they are realistic with you and your hair is my #1 tip for going blonde, and doing any hair treatment honestly!

The first time I got my hair done we did a cut and color. I remember thinking, even after Valerie saying that this was going to be a process, that I'd be blonde and beautiful right after my first appointment, boy was I wrong. You're first appointment, if you are like me and have darker hair, you'll probably have a more golden look to it which for me was a shock. I love ashy tones, not very into brassy or golden when it comes to hair so I was shook to say the least. Of course I called her and asked to bump up our appointment to get the golden tones out quicker like she warned me about when we first talked about this process.

After about 4 to 5 appointments I got to the right shade, which sounds quick but if you don't want your hair to fall off by the root the time frame realistically took about a year and half to fully achieve the light light blonde I was looking for. After I got to the right tone, I was almost tired of going blonde every appointment for the past year or so, so I went purple for hot second which was amazing and easy because of how light I already was. But all great things must come to an end, and the blonde was back and better than ever and has been so ever since.

If you're wanting to get what I get, honestly take a photo of my hair to your stylist and ask for that. I bring a new photo to Valerie literally every appointment that it's become a running joke, it's the best way to get my point across and for her to see what I want to achieve! I started off my getting a balayage but have done highlights as well so it's really been almost different every time from what I understand of what she tells me, I usually just let her work her magic! If anyone has any questions feel free to comment below or follow Valerie on Instagram and ask her as well!

The photos in this post are not my complete hair journey, just a few to show the range we've done over the years! xx Analisa
